Bolt Action British Paras

This post is part of a series of showcase posts, where I show what models are in my miniatures collection. This one shows my current Bolt action British Paras force. The post may grow over time if I add more miniatures to my collection. This force is a 28mm scale world war 2 British Paras force, intended for Bolt action (by Warlord Games) but could be used for any 28mm world war two wargame.

Bolt action has been my major “hobby” focus for the past year or so. With the british Paras getting the bulk of that attention. I started playing bolt action because of the wargames club I attend in Workington. The lads there had started collecting and after a couple of games I was totally hooked. They tend to go for more early war stuff, where I typically like the late war stuff.

I’ve played flames of war for a few years and my main force is the British Paras for that, so not being one to upset the natural order of things, I decided I should stick with the old maroon berets and just get them in a bigger scale!

I have another post about my Bolt action British Paras, where I show how I painted them in the first batch to roll off the production line (more like a production shelf really) which you can find here: Bolt action British Paratroopers

Radio operator and medic from Warlord Games. The Radio operator has no actual “role” in the game, he is just a sweet figure. (I think he might have had a part to play in the old version of hte game before they called it bolt aciton, could be wrong here. Either way though he’s a sweet figure!)

Since games of Bolt action usually only involve one tank per side, I decided to make mine a cromwell. One of my favourite tanks of ww2. I chose to go for the Tamiya 1:48 scale tank. I personally think the 1:48 scale suits the scale of the models much better, although a lot of people would disagree, and tend to stick with 1:56

Here’s what I’ve got that’s yet to be painted. Including Two jeeps (half painted), 5 extra infantrymen which will make up my numbers to have a full platoon of 3 sections of 8 men. A mortar team, A sniper team, A 75mm howitzer (This model is actually in 25mm scale, which I got very cheap, if you put these models side by side to a normal 28mm figure they look pretty small, but to be fair, on the table looking at them from 2 feet away, noone can tell, and this unit usually stays near the rear anyway)

The beloved 17pdr. A monster at 15mm scale I should really have known it would be quite large, when I opened the box I was still shocked to see how big it was! I would love to see one of these in real life! Wouldn’t however have liked to have been on the crew for one when they were in action!!

Extra medics & a flame thrower just to round off the sets.
