Bolt Action Germans

This post is part of a series of showcase posts, where I show what models are in my miniatures collection. This one shows my current Bolt action Germans. The post may grow over time if I add more miniatures to my collection. This force is a 28mm scale world war 2 German Army, intended for Bolt action (by Warlord Games) but could be used for any 28mm world war two wargame.

This force grew mainly as a reaction to my British Paras. I love playing Bolt Action and couldn’t just stop at one force. I needed an opposing force for them to play against. I wasn’t really looking for anything too fancy with this force, wasn’t trying to recreate any particular regiment or anything like that, purely just wanted an opposition force if I ever took my Para’s for a game where I needed to supply both sides! I was quite pleasantly suprised when painting these chaps though. I just went for the basic camo scheme. Wasn’t looking to do any complex SS peadot camo, as I was sick of doing things like that from painting the Denison Smocks on my British Paras, the result was quite good, and very easy to paint.

I bought a couple of vehicles for my germans, Which still need to be painted. The Panzer IV is by Der waffenhammer, which I think I picked up at the sheffield war games show. It’s in 1:56 scale.

The Stuka du fuss was for a specific scenario which I put together for a game at the club, it’s in 1:48 scale. It looks too big next to the panzer, but when they’re on opposite sides of the table it doesn’t look daft. The SDKFZ 222 is also in 1:48, and also still needs painting. I really do need to get cracking with these vehicles!!

The above picture shows my full force. It’s mainly from the German Army starter set from Warlord games, with a handful of extra figures that I got in a random selection pack from North Star Figures. This gave me enough to get three 10 man sections, a 5 man section of volks grenadiers, a panzerfaust team, a sniper team and a command unit.

These are all fully painted. The only things left to paint are my mortar team and my MG42 both came from Warlord games.
